Richard Eldon Barnes

Funeral services for Richard Eldon Barnes, of Boswell, Okla., will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Riverside Unity Church in Unger, Okla. Richard passed away June 18, 2026, at the age of 60.

Richard Eldon Barnes was born on May 5, 1966 in Hugo, Okla., the son of Kelsey Richard Barnes and Billie Dale (Mock) Barnes. He was preceded in death by his parents; and beloved wife, Jennifer (Cheetam) Barnes.

Richard was a life-long resident of the Boswell area and proudly joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 18. He served almost four years and received several commendations including the Pistol Expert Badge, Rifle Expert Badge (2nd Award), Good Conduct Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Richard was honorably discharged in 1988 and returned home. He later married his beloved wife, Jennifer, in 2010. Richard found great joy in being outdoors, where he felt most at home and most at peace. Whether he was fishing, hunting or spending time with his horses, he appreciated nature and enjoyed working with his hands. He was always tinkering on something and enjoyed fixing things around the house. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Richard is survived by his children: Cody Barnes and wife, Cole Barnes, Zack Barnes, Kelsey Kaylynn Barnes, all of Boswell; multiple grandchildren; sisters: Vicki Scott and husband and Carolyn Moody and husband, all of Boswell; along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
