Funeral services for Roger Len Gunnels, of Hugo, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 21, 2024 at Shoals Baptist Church in Hugo. Roger passed away Dec. 14, 2024, at the age of 67.

Roger Len Gunnels was born on Aug. 12, 1957 in Morton, Texas, the son of Cecil Clyde Gunnels and Geneva Maye (McGreggor) Gunnels. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Cecil Clyde Gunnels, Jr. and Larry Don Gunnels; sisters: Kaye Clawson, Anita Schlottman and Karen Rhodes King.

Roger was a man of many talents and worked as a mechanic most of his life. He was able to fix just about anything. Roger married his loving wife, Barbara (Smith) Gunnels on April 15, 1977 in Andrews, Texas. Upon retirement, they moved to the Hugo area to be closer to Roger’s family and that is where they have resided the past five years.

Roger enjoyed going fishing anywhere there was water, and as long as they were biting. He also enjoyed going to the casino with his wife, Barbara. Above all else, Roger loved spending time with the people he loved. His family was his world and even though his passing has left a void in their lives, his memory will live on in all who knew and loved him. Roger was a devoted husband, daddy and grandpa. He is survived by his loving family; wife, Barbara of Hugo; sons, Mike and wife of Fountain, Colo., and Joey and wife of Llano, Texas; four grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other family and loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2024 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Hugo.

Interment will follow the service at Gunnels Family Cemetery in Hugo with Jeff White officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
