Ruth Janice Lawrence

Graveside services for Ruth Janice Lawrence, of Boswell, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2025 at Restland Cemetery in Boswell. Ruth passed away May 8, 2025, at the age of 86.

Ruth Janice (Hughes) Lawrence was born on March 15, 1939 in Boehler, Okla., the daughter of Wayne Hughes and Geraldine (Neill) Hughes. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon West; son, Dale West and a brother-in-law.

Janice grew up in Boswell and graduated from Boswell High School. She married Vernon West in 1957 and together they had three sons. Janice had a rewarding career in nursing and as a caretaker. She enjoyed baking cakes, gardening, making ceramics and going fishing. Janice loved watching western movies and going to rodeos. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Janice is survived by her sons: Daryl West and wife of Montgomery, Texas, and Dana West and wife of Durant, Okla.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Clark of Boswell; brothers: Larry Hughes of Boswell and Jerry Hughes and wife of Boswell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Bro. Jan Lee officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
