Samuel Ed Peters, Sr.

Funeral services for Samuel Ed Peters, Sr., of Sawyer, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel. Samuel passed away July 19, 2024, at the age of 80.

Samuel Ed Peters, Sr. was born on March 14, 1944 in Bethel, Okla., the son of Ed Peters and Melcie (Bond) Peters. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Cary Peters; and sisters: Effie Shomo, Virginia Jefferson, Jansey Wade and Melissia Bohanan.

Samuel was a life-long resident of Choctaw County and was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation. He was a talented mechanic and enjoyed working with his hands. Samuel loved being outdoors; hunting, fishing and gardening. Samuel took great pride in being able to provide food for his family. His greatest joy in life truly was his family and getting everyone together so he could visit with all of them. Samuel was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and caregiver to his family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Samuel is survived by his sons: Samuel Peters, Jr. and wife of Sawyer and Gary Peters and wife of Hugo; sister, Francine Howell of Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Interment followed the service at Hampton Chapel Cemetery in Spencerville, Okla., with Bro. Ellis Taylor and Bro. Lester Tim officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
