Body

Sonya K. Floyd, age 61, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020 of COPD complications at home. She was born and raised in Hugo, Okla., and lived there the majority of her life.

Granddaughter, daughter, sister, grandmother and niece, she was loved by so many and will be missed.

Sonya graduated from a Vo-Tech business class and worked various jobs, but her passion was cleaning and caring for others where she worked for herself most of her life. She enjoyed the simple outdoors, walking the beaches of Hugo Lake for arrowheads, and taking in God’s great creations.

Preceded in death by her grandparents, Oliver and Louise Lemons; and her uncles: Roger Lemons and Jimmie Lemons. Unfortunately, also her uncle Joey Don Lemons who passed away two days later. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Floyd Carroll and husband, Kelly, daughter, Amanda Floyd Chambers; mother, Evelyn Lemons; biological father, James Choat; brothers: Paul Lemons, Edward Lemons, Tony Wells and husband, Carl; grandchildren: Blake and Madison Bowers, Tyler, Kera, and Spencer Dillishaw. Ever present aunts, uncles and cousins.

I’m most thankful God was with her in her final moments and throughout her life. Heaven has gained another angel to watch over us.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020 at the Hugo Lake, at the pavilion at the Lilly Road Swim Beach. We ask that everyone wear a mask and social distance when possible.

Flowers can be ordered at Linda’s Place Flowers & Gifts, 115 N. Broadway Street, Hugo, 580.326.7589.

All are welcome to come to celebrate her life.
