Memorial services for Susan (Moore) Stepp, of Hugo, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Unity Baptist Church in Hugo. Susan passed away May 22, 2025, at the age of 71.

Susan (Moore) Stepp was born on Oct. 6, 1953, the daughter of Bill D. Moore and Mary Elizabeth (Harris) Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Susan was a lifelong member of the Hugo community and was a graduate of Hugo High School, Class of 1971. She went on to further her education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, first obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in education and later a Master’s in counseling.

Susan began to work as an elementary school teacher and later the school counselor for Hugo Public Schools. She took great pride in her job and her dedication to nurturing young minds made a profound impact on the lives of countless students. Susan retired after 36 years and continued to touch many lives through her work as a counselor for Zen Gee Counseling and Psychology in Antlers, Okla.

Susan married her lifelong sweetheart, Lee Stepp, on Sept. 2, 1978 in Hugo, Okla. Their friendship began in elementary school and carried on through 46 years of a loving marriage.

Susan not only had a love for children and people but also for animals. She began raising horses and started her very own business called Happy Horse Farm. Susan treated her horses like part of the family, and it brought her so much joy to find her horses their forever homes. Above all else, Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Susan’s passing has left a void in many hearts, but her loving memory will live on forever in those many lives she touched.

Susan is survived by her family; husband, Lee Stepp; children: Mandy Stepp and Jeff Stepp; grandchildren: Ebony Cherry, Damion Bell, Donovin Stepp and Jaden Stepp; great-grandchildren: Myani Cherry and IyLah Cherry; brother, Fred Moore; along with a host of other family and friends.

Services are under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
