OSU research tracks Oklahoma wild turkey populations to improve wildlife management

OSU and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation are conducting a four-year study of wild turkeys in Roger Mills County to better understand population size, movement, roosting and harvest.

Researchers captured and banded 171 wild turkeys, with 90 fitted with GPS transmitters, and are combining GPS data, trail-camera images and recorded calls to track the population.
