January is Board of Education Recognition Month and an opportunity for local schools and technology centers to honor Oklahoma’s more than 2,700 elected school board members for their dedication to students and communities.

We have another strong cold front coming at midweek and the coldest day will be Thursday with a high around 36 and a low near 17 Thursday night. A warming trend will bring us back up to near 50 on Saturday and close to 60 degrees by Monday.

Celebration of life services for Tamara Buckingham, fondly known as TK, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Hugo, Okla. Tamara passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 63.

Hazel Marie Davis, of Hugo, Okla., passed away Jan. 1, 2022, at the age of 84.

Funeral services for Stephen Price, fondly known as “Indian,” will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022 at Unity Baptist Church in Hugo, Okla. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo. Stephen passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 in Little Rock, Ark., at the age of 72.

Funeral services for Hazel Billy Taylor, of Fort Towson, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 13, 2022 at Goodwater United Methodist Church in Fort Towson. Hazel passed away Jan. 9, 2022, at the age of 85.

Phalice Augusta Smith, of Fort Towson, Okla., passed away Jan. 12, 2022, at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 30 days.
