Hugo News Sports It was a big weekend for the Buffaloes, with both the girls and boys varsity teams becoming Blue & Gold Classic Champions in Antlers Saturday night. For the Lady Buffs, the tournament was a big leap in the right direction after a slow start to the season.

Hugo Elementary receives grant to assist with ‘magic in the classroom’

• Hugo Elementary receives $3,403.35 grant from Carolyn Watson Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation Hugo Public Schools announced it has received a $3,403.35 Classroom Enhancement grant from the Carolyn Watson Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation administered by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. The grant will be used to assist in funding Magic in the Classroom, which will allow Hugo Elementary to provide educational opportunities that will expand its students’ horizons.

Carter, Addington advance to Regional competition

Rattan Family, Career, Community Leaders of America “FCCLA” members competed in the Southeast District STAR Events which were held in Atoka, Okla., on Nov. 29. Clayci Carter, Vice-President of Public Relations, competed in Repurpose and Redesign. She created a heritage shelf honoring her grandfathers. Clayci placed first in her division and will be advancing to the Regional competition. Gracee Addington competed in Creed Speaking and Interpretation. Gracee also placed first in her division and will be advancing to the Regional competition which will be held on Jan. 31, 2023 in Prague, Okla.
