Mary Elizabeth (Wilson) Bell passed away from natural causes on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, at the age of 94. Born in Tahlina, Okla.,, Aug. 28, 1928, to Harlan and Bertha Wilson, where she grew up on the family farm on the outskirts of town. Mary was a proud resident of Hugo, and a member of Hugo High School’s class of 1946. Shortly after graduation, Mary eloped with Cecil Kenneth Bell, and the two shared a marriage of nearly 74 years. The couple were the proud parents of two daughters and a son: Lynda (Bell) Canezaro, Dianna (Bell) Guidry, and Kenneth Bell.

Fort Towson Historic Site plans three days of educational experiences

FORT TOWSON –– The Fort Towson Historic Site will host three days full of educational experiences from March 2–4. On Thursday, March 2, the site will bring history to life with a free event called “Living History Education Day.” It will teach what life was like at Fort Towson more than 180 years ago.

The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) recently announced support for the House Education Plan offered by Speaker Charles McCall last week. “After reviewing the plan and an opportunity to talk with Speaker McCall, OCA is pleased to announce our support for the House Education plan found in HB’s 1935 and 2775. OCA member policy strongly supports funding for education alternative to ad valorem taxes which is primary in this package,” stated OCA President Byron Yeoman.
