OKLAHOMA CITY – Senate Pro Tem Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, issued the following statement after the Senate voted 45-to-2, overriding Governor Kevin Stitt’s veto of Senate Bill 1130. Senate Bill 1130 essentially prevents the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) from spending $600 million of Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) money this year.

Tanner Trent named Region Six ‘Coach of the Year!’

Hugo News Sports Middle School head coach and varsity assistant coach Tanner Trent was named Junior High Coach of the Year for region six by the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association last week. Athletic director Darnell Shanklin nominated Trent for the award, saying Trent is deserving of the recognition after three years of hard work he’s put into the program.

• Swink Volunteer Fire Department Receives $39,496 grant from the Carolyn Watson Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation The Swink Volunteer Fire Department announced it has received a $39,496 Community Grant from the Carolyn Watson Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation. The grant will be used to fund Project Protection, which will allow the Swink Volunteer Fire Department to purchase new Bunker Gear, Wildlife Gear, AED, and Mobilize Comprehensive Trauma Kit which will enable the Swink Volunteer Fire Department to enhance the quality of life for rural citizens and communities in Oklahoma.
