Hugo Police Department officers arrested an Idabel woman, Reann Whitney Willeby, on July 7, 2023 at the Choctaw Travel Plaza on the west side of Hugo, after receiving reports of a stolen vehicle on West Jackson Street at 6:45 a.m.

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Kendall Bryan Morgan, age 45, of Shady Point, Okla., was sentenced today to 22 months imprisonment and 36 months of supervised release for violating the civil rights of a handcuffed detainee without legal justification.

Single truck crash claims two local lives July 11

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has issued its preliminary report concerning a July 11 crash south of Hugo that claimed the lives to two local men. According to OHP Trooper Hunter Motley’s report, a 2012 Ford F250 pickup, driven by Amaney Jackson, 27, of Hugo, was northbound on County Road N 4220 (Old Paris Highway 271) at approximately 6:35 Tuesday, July 11, when he lost control of his vehicle, departed the roadway to the left, rolled 1/4 time, struck a tree and came to rest.

Valliant softball squad claims National Championship!

The USA Glory 12U softball team based out of Valliant, Okla., coached by Jeremy Smith, won the USSSA Southeast National Championship this past Fourth of July week in Nashville, Tenn. Three of the girls on the team reside right here in Choctaw County and proudly represented us here in small town Oklahoma this past week on a National stage.

Morehouse scores big in Taekwondo Grand Nationals
