Services for Amaney Jackson will be Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 10 a.m. in the Hugo High School gymnasium.

“Amaney died July 11, 2023 in Hugo, Okla., at the age of 27.

Amaney was born on Jan. 2, 1996, in Hugo, Okla., the son of Barney Spears and Amanda Jackson-Perry.

He graduated from Hugo High School, Class of 2014. He was an exceptional athlete and ran track, played basketball and football. After graduating high school, Amaney joined Pipeliners Union 798 and worked on projects all over the country with his favorite dog, Django, by his side. In his spare time, he loved to be outdoors any chance he could, and especially enjoyed working in the barn with his horses and going hunting.

Amaney was also a gifted and talented song writer and composer. He devoted time to the studio to develop his music, to write songs and lyrics. He could make a song out of anything, even his daughter’s bedtime stories turned into lyrics that he would sing to them until they fell asleep.

Amaney’s greatest joy in life was truly his family, especially his daughters, Baeya, Navy, and Anlie. They were his greatest blessing and spending time with them brought him so much joy. Above all else Amaney was a loving father, son, brother and friend to many. His smile and charisma would light up any room and he was truly a light in the Hugo community. Although his passing has left a void in many lives, his legacy and memory will live on in every life he has touched.

Amaney is survived by his loving family, mother and stepfather, Amanda Jackson- Perry and Curtis Perry; father, Barney Spears; daughters: Baeya Jane Jackson and Navy Jade Jackson; brothers: Trae Dozier, Ricardo Buchanan, Quamai Perry, and Desmond Perry; sisters: A’Breon Jackson, Ayanna Jackson, and Sharricka Bartholomew; stepdaughter, Anlie Overstake; loved by, Traci Michell along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
