CHOCTAW COUNTY –– A Fort Towson man lost his life after an automobile crash on E. 2040 Rd., approximately two miles north and two-and-a-half miles west of Fort Towson Sunday.

PUSHMATAHA COUNTY –– Two men were injured during a one-vehicle accident Saturday night, approximately five miles north of Clayton, Oklahoma., in Pushmataha County. According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Donny Baugh, 21 of Talihina, Okla., was driving a 2003 Chevy Silverado westbound on 1640 Rd.

The former president of the Choctaw County Library, Inc. Board of Directors pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement last week, according to court documents.

The National Institutes of Health has awarded an Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation scientist $3.1 million to investigate a possible cause of heart disease among people with diabetes. Chi Fung Lee, Ph.D., will use the five-year grant to better understand how obesity and diabetes contribute to cardiomyopathy, which is an abnormal weakening of the heart muscle.
