Funeral services for Alberta Coleman, of Hugo, Okla., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Mt. Cavalry Baptist Church in Hugo. Alberta passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the age of 95.

Awesome! “That’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen!” Those were just a few of the most frequently heard comments spoken by people of all ages who had the opportunity to view not just an eclipse of the sun Monday, but a “total” eclipse filled with scientific names and explanations about the rare occurrence. I have to admit that I was not prepared for how cool the few minutes of “totality” were going to be.

Idabel resident sentenced for firearm crime

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Cedric Jamara Cherry, age 42, of Idabel, Okla., was sentenced to 15 months in prison for possessing a firearm and ammunition after being previously convicted of a felony offense.
