Choctaw County enacts temporary moratorium on data centers

HUGO — The Choctaw County Board of County Commissioners has approved a temporary moratorium on the development, permitting and construction of data centers within the county. The resolution, approved May 18, 2026, establishes a 365-day pause on the acceptance, processing, approval or issuance of permits and applications related to new data centers, server farms, cloud-computing facilities, cryptocurrency mining operations and other similar high-density computing installations.

Kate Clifton has received her American FFA Degree last fall and she also received a $5,000 scholarship from Tractor Supply and the FFA Foundation. She also received two, $1,200 scholarships from the 4-H Foundation (4-H Entrepreneur Scholarship and 4-H State Recordbook winner).

For more than six decades, the Hugo Rodeo has carried on a rich tradition deeply rooted in southeastern Oklahoma’s western heritage. While rodeo activities in Hugo date back long before 1961, that year marked a turning point when local community leaders joined forces with professional cowboys from the area to affiliate with the Rodeo Cowboys Association (RCA), now known as the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
