Graveside services for David L. Williams were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 16, 2020 at Springs Chapel Cemetery in Hugo, Okla.

David L. Williams was born in Moro, Ark., on May 24, 1931. He was the son of Jack R. and Grace (Simmons) Williams; as a young child, his parents passed away and he was raised by Wiley and Addie Mae Simmons. David passed away in Conway, Ark., on Sept. 11, 2020, at the age of 89.

David Williams grew up and spent the majority of his life in Hugo. He was a member of Oppelo Assembly of God Church. Throughout his working years he worked at a security guard for Tyson Foods and for the Arkansas Department of Corrections. David enjoyed attending church, fishing, music, and his best memories and time spent were with his family.

David is preceded in death by his biological parents and guardians; first wife, Elizabeth Ann (Doane) Williams and son, Randal Lee Williams; second wife, Joyce Nadine (Rouse) Williams; brothers: Arch Williams, Julius Simmons, James Ray “Buddy” Simmons; sisters: Alice Marie Simmons, Ella Mae Bullock. David is survived by his sons:

David is survived by his sons: Steve Rouse and Paul Rouse, both of Hugo; brothers: Frank Simmons and wife of Hot Springs, Ark., Emmitt Simmons and wife of Oppelo, Ark., David Leo Simmons of Clarksville, Ark., Ricky L. Simmons of Humphrey, Ark.; sisters: Peggy Wells of Durant, Okla., Elizabeth King Frank of Pine Bluff, Ark.; with a host of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Emmitt Simmons officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
