Funeral services for Dollie Marie Boykin Burton, of Soper, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. April 1, 2021 at First Assembly of God in Hugo. Dollie passed away March 27, 2021, at the age of 89.

Dollie Marie (Boykin) Burton was born on Sept. 22, 1931 in Soper, to William Thomas and Ollie Marie Boykin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, the Rev. Gerald Burton; brothers: Charley Boykin, the Rev. Raymond Boykin, the Rev. Alford Boykin, Garland Boykin, Haston Boykin and Donald Boykin ; sisters: Jossie Ice and Lillian Waugh.

Dollie graduated high school in Soper, the Class of 1948 and married Gerald Burton on Dec. 22, 1950 in Paris, Texas. She was a resident of Soper for more than 47 years and was a dedicated pastor’s wife. Dollie had many names, Mom, Sister, Rinkey, Wife, Daughter, but her most loved names were Aunt Dollie, Grandma and Nana. She worked more than 50 years in the manufacturing, retail and medical fields. Dollie loved to travel and traveled throughout the Middle East including the Holy Land, Kuwait, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska and many other states. She loved her yearly Christmas trips to Branson with her nieces. Dollie loved her roller coaster ride and lived a long and full life. She was loved by many and will be missed deeply by them all.

Dollie is survived by her sons: Billy Gearld Burton and wife, Tanya Sickles of Hugo, Okla., Bryan Keith Burton and wife, Melody Halcomb Burton of McAlester, Okla.; daughters: Harriet Dean Turner Herring and husband, Glenn of Munday, Texas, Deborah Joyce Abu-El-Jibien and husband, Belal of Kuwait; brothers: Burrel Boykin of Soper, Orval Boykin of Soper, and Vance Boykin of Soper; grandchildren: Kelley Grant, Kasey Turner, Veronica Lowery, Kenneth B. Michael, Burton Rasha, Adel Sammy Abu-El-Jibien, Magen Burton, Ashley Burton and Bryan Kaleb Burton; 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Hugo.

Interment will follow the service at Soper Cemetery with Bro. Jr. Hogue, Bro. Jonathan Hooker and the Rev. Kevin Burton officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
