Elmer Graham, of Hugo, Okla., passed away Sept. 20, 2023, at the age of 86. He was born on March 23, 1937 in Sawyer, Okla., the son of Robert Graham, Sr., and Catherine (Mitchell) Graham. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Bessie Jewel Graham, Pearlie Hill, Bonnie Lee Hare and brothers: Robert Graham and Harry Lee Graham.

Elmer was a lifelong resident of Choctaw County but lived for a short period of time in Arizona and Kansas. He was employed by Weyerhaeuser for several years before changing jobs to Campbell Soup Company where he was a valuable asset in the various parts of the plant that he worked. Elmer always made sure that his boots were shined to a high polish, and he looked his best regardless of where he was going. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger days and especially enjoyed telling stories about all his adventures. Elmer was honest and to the point and would speak his mind on any issue. He was known to many as “Uncle Pete” and as his family will tell you, he could “talk your ear off.” Elmer will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Elmer is survived by his sister, Mary Gardner of Kansas City, Kan.; his caregiver and special niece, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Interment was held at Box Springs Cemetery in Sawyer, Okla., under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
