Jackie David Peddy, a dedicated railroad conductor for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and loving grandfather, passed away on Sept. 20, 2023, at the age of 80. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, cherished memories and a deep love for his family.

Jackie David Peddy was born Feb. 3, 1943, in Durant, Okla., the son of Arthur Vernon and Nellie Pearl (Stanford) Peddy. Jack was a man of integrity and honor. He dedicated four years of his life to serving his country in the United States Air Force. During his time in the Air Force, he exemplified unwavering dedication to his duty, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and superiors. Jack’s commitment to serving his country was paralleled by his commitment to his family. He found immense joy in spending time with his beloved grandchildren, often taking them on memorable bicycle rides. Among his most treasured moments were those spent fishing by the peaceful lakeside or hunting in the serene woods.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rita in 2004, and one sister, JoAnn Coldiron.

Jack is survived by his children: David Peddy and Sheila Peddy, both of Hugo; grandchildren: Lindy Wrice and husband, Rayonn of Denton, Texas, Elizabeth Watts and husband, DJ of Durant, Zachary Peddy and significant other, Brianna Shannon of Hugo; greatgrandchildren: Trinity Wrice, Evan Tollett, Peyton Wrice, Lexi Wrice, Brylan Watts, Nolan Watts and Kasen Peddy; two brothers: Vernon Peddy of Irving, Texas, Jimmy Peddy of Durant; sisters: Anita Morrison and Juanita Bennett, both of Durant; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2023 at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, with Pastor Doug Mc-Clure officiating.

Jack’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His legacy of honorable service, love for family, and his deep connection to nature will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. Please share your memories and condolences at www.praterlampton.com.
