Funeral services for James Leonard Smith, of Sawyer, Okla., were held at 12 p.m. March 1, 2024 at Sawyer Cemetery. James passed away Feb. 27, 2024, at the age of 81.

James Leaonard Smith was born on May 7, 1942, in Warren, Ark., the son of Travis E. Carr and Ruby (Miller) Carr. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Jordan Stevenson; brothers: Jimmy Carr, J.T. Carr and Billy Carr and sister, Mildred Baugus.

James had been a resident of Sawyer since 1971. He worked as a Millwright at Brown and Root Industrial Services and was the owner/ operator of K-Rays store. James married his beloved wife, Susan Stevenson, on Oct. 6, 2004 in Hugo at Lions Park. James enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets, especially in Canton, Texas, and buying and selling unique items he would find. He also enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his wife and family. He will be truly missed by his loved ones. James is survived by his loving wife, Susan Smith; daughter, Shelly Womack of Hot Springs, Ark.; stepdaughter, Chrissy Miller and husband of Clermont, Fla.; a daughter-in-law; 10 grandchildren; brothers: Travis Carr of Arkansas and Alton Carr of Arkansas and sister, Debbie Daugherty of Arkansas, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Bro. Johnny Corgill officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
