Funeral services for Michael Wayne Covington, of Hugo, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 29, 2023 at the Fort Towson gymnasium. Michael passed away Sept. 24, 2023, at the age of 37.

Michael Wayne Covington was born on May 1, 1986 in Hugo, Okla., and had lived all of his life in Choctaw County. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Hugo.

Michael was a graduate of Fort Towson High School, Class of 2005. He married the love of his life, Shaylie Canant on Oct. 2, 2021 at Hugo Lake. Michael was so thankful for the change in his life that Shaylie made. He loved his family and was an amazing dad to his son, Morgan. Michael loved children and it was apparent by how all the kids wanted to be around him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his friends. Michael was always willing to lend a hand. He loved working cows and being Clifton Miller’s right-hand man. Michael loved life but above all he loved the Lord Jesus Christ. The world is a little dimmer and sadness surrounds his family and friends, but the love that Michael had for them will always be felt and will carry them through the difficult days to come. Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Shaylie; sons: Morgan Wyatt Covington and his son on the way, Stetson Cort Wayne Covington; father, Jerry Wayne Covington of Boswell, Okla.; mother, Sherrie Lester of Soper, Okla.; sisters: Crystal Covington of Hugo, Heather Young of Shawnee, Okla., and Jamie Crouch of Wyoming; father-inlaw, Shane Canant and wife, Kala of Redland, Okla.; special nephew, Rucus Davis, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Hugo.

Interment will follow the service at Springs Chapel Cemetery with Brandon Motley and Clifton Miller officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
