Iris Garden Club meets for October

The Iris Garden Club of Hugo met Oct. 23 at the Burnside Community room. The room was decorated with beautiful fall colors and arrangements. The hostess was Joye Satterfield and cohostess was Kathy Jones. President Harolynn Wofford called the meeting to order, the group recited the Gardener’s Creed and Rick Lowrance led in prayer.
Iris Garden Club’s Yard of the Month was Danny and Tavana Brown. Their fall/ halloween display won the award.

Polls open Tuesday for Fort Towson election

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, for the Fort Towson Municipal Election. Fort Towson voters will be voting on whether to approve a “Hotel Tax” of 7.5% on visitors who stay in hotels or campgrounds less than 30 consecutive days, and to elect a Town Trustee to replace a Trustee with an unexpired term.

Band Student of the Week

Hugo Bank Student of the Week is Talayiza Chadrick. She is a freshman at Hugo High School and has been in band for four years. She plays the clarinet and is in color guard. Talayiza enjoys being in band because it allows her to express her feelings through music. Her hobbies outside of band include Color Guard and Softball!
