Hugo News Sports When the Buffaloes walked off the field Friday night, it was the first time all season they’d headed toward the locker room with smiles on their faces. They had plenty of reasons to smile — they’d just beat Wilburton, 18-14 in a game that felt like everything and everyone was working against them.

Choctaw Nation, local co-ops celebrate partnership

HOCHATOWN –– The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma celebrated its partnership with two local electric cooperatives that helped bring a substation to Hochatown. Choctaw Nation partnered with Choctaw Electric and Western Farmers to add another substation to Hochatown as the area grows and works to accommodate the influx of businesses and people.

Choctaw Tribal members named to ‘Inspiring Oklahoma’ list

Four Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) tribal members have recently been named to ion Oklahoma Magazine’s “55 Over 55 Inspiring Oklahomans” list. Included in the list were Gary Batton, Chief of the Choctaw Nation; Jack Austin, Jr, Assistant Chief of the Choctaw Nation; Michael Burrage, Co-Founder of Whitten Burrage and the first Native American Federal Judge; and Stacy Shepherd, executive officer at Choctaw Nation.
