A new Oklahoma CareerTech program will connect students and employers interested in work-based learning. Get Skilled Now, scheduled to go live in August, will be a free, online platform that will allow CareerTech students and employers to find each other for work-based learning opportunities.

Study finds potential treatment for sickle cell disease complication

An experimental drug being tested to treat a rare blood disorder may also benefit people who have sickle cell disease, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation scientists have discovered. In research models, the compound reduced the length and severity of vasoocclusive crises, the most frequent and severe complication of sickle cell disease, said OMRF Cardiovascular Biology Program Chair Lijun Xia, M.D., Ph.D., who led the study.

Attorney General O’Connor releases guidance for law enforcement after newest abortion law takes effect

OKLAHOMA CITY –– Last week, Attorney General John O’Connor criticized the ongoing campaign by the abortion industry and others to confuse and mislead the public about abortion laws, following the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent historic overturning of Roe v. Wade in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. He also released a guidance document for law enforcement after the State’s most recent abortion law became effective.
