The Choctaw County Sheriff’s Department and Hugo Wildlife Management Area are investigating after a large amount of nails were dumped on roadways during the 2021 deer hunting season. According to reports, the nails were dumped on the roadway and parking areas of the wildlife management area on N.

Our first priority at Hugo Schools is the protection of our students and staff from harm. The recent increase in violence in our community is alarming to all of us in the district. We are extremely grateful for the actions of the members of our local enforcement agencies in responding to these incidents. Our partnership with the City of Hugo and the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office is invaluable in our efforts to keep our students and staff safe. We must remain proactive in doing all we can to ensure the safety of those in the schools.
Boswell man succumbs to gunshot wounds

BOSWELL –– A man has been arrested on complaints of murder after a Boswell man was shot Saturday morning. According to Choctaw County Sheriff reports, the shooting occurred in the parking lot of a downtown Boswell grocery store.
