HUGO –– The Hugo board of education, in a special meeting Monday afternoon, voted to approve a settlement agreement with respect to a lawsuit involving five students, which alleged abuse by a former employee of the district.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Andrea Dawn Cooper, age 34, of Sawyer, Okla., entered a guilty plea to one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury in Indian Country, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
