It’s almost Fair time in Choctaw County! The 114th annual Choctaw County Fair, “Barn in the U.S.A.,” is scheduled for next week at the Agriplex in Hugo. Fair entries and booth setup will begin on Tuesday, Sept.

Loftin guessed closest (311) to the Hugo Buffaloes’ total offense figure (390) to edge out Lindy Loftin. Hugo School to hold special bond election Sept. 14

Sample ballots are now available for the Sept. 14 Hugo and Valliant School bond special election. Voters can download a sample ballot using the State Election Board’s OK Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp or pickup a copy at the Choctaw County Election Board during normal business hours.

Hot weather is more likely to cause health problems in older adults than in younger ones. About 200 Americans die of health problems caused by high heat and humidity every year. And most of them are 50 or older.

Looks like there’s going to be nothing but sunshine and very hot temperatures across southeast Oklahoma for the week ahead. The afternoons will be sunny with high temperatures 95 to 100 degrees and heat index near 105. At night you can expect clear skies with low temperatures dropping to near 74 degrees. Temperatures are expected to continue above normal through Sept. 6.
