HUGO –– Josie Rosales of Taco Mamas was awarded a Chahtapreneuer Award from the Choctaw Nation Small Business Development (CSBD.) Every year, one Choctawowned small business from each district is recognized. Taco Mamas was awarded based on its participation with Choctaw Nation Small Business Development, community involvement and impact to their local economies.

New approach shows promise for arthritis relief

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. But according to experts at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, new research suggests that may not be the case for old knees in those living with osteoarthritis.

• AFR youth program launches public speaking tutorials following contest cancellation OKLAHOMA CITY—If 2020 were a normal year, the American Farmers & Ranchers/Oklahoma Farmers Union (AFR/OFU) Cooperative would be planning its annual AFR Youth Speech Contest. Agriculture students statewide would be preparing their speeches in hopes of high judges’ marks and first place trophies.

On Oct. 30-31, the town of Boswell presented its first ever annual Haunting at The Park, that boasted a haunted trail. On Halloween night, there were free hotdogs, games and cupcakes, as well as candy for trick-or-treaters.

We have a beautiful forecast for the week ahead with mostly sunny days and mostly clear nights. High temperatures will warm up to 80 degrees for Thursday and Friday. Much colder weather moves in for the weekend with a chance of rain Saturday night and Sunday. We will finish out the weekend with highs only in the 50s on Sunday and upper- 20s expected Sunday night.

The Hugo Area of Commerce conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Nov. 6 to commemorate the completion of the restroom remodeling at Hugo Middle School. All eight restrooms at HMS were remodeled by Mid Plains Construction. This project is the beginning of the remodeling of our middle school which will be completed as funds are available.
