Scientists at OMRF awarded heart research fellowships

Three postdoctoral researchers at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation have received American Heart Association fellowships to continue studies of cardiovascular disease. The recipients are Marcella Datilo, Ph.D.; Liang Gao, Ph.D; and Hina Nizami, Ph.D.

Economic development is subject of County Industrial Authority meeting

HUGO — Approximately 40 area citizens, including both business owners and public employees, participated in an economic development seminar Friday morning at the Kiamichi Tech Center. David Myers, a retired economic developer with Ponca City served as moderator of the meeting and led participants through a series of question and answer sessions that were intended to shine a light on both area attractions and assets as well as things or conditions that might be impediments to growth and job development.

HUGO — A Grant resident was attacked by a pack of three dogs last week and air-flighted to a Texas hospital in critical condition. The attack spurred the Hugo Police Department to crack down on the number of rogue dogs roaming in many parts of Hugo.

OCA adopts important policies at annual Winter Policy meeting

The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) successfully concluded its 2025 Winter Policy Meeting, where OCA members gathered to discuss and adopt policies addressing critical issues impacting the cattle industry. The meeting brought together cattle producers from across the state to ensure the voice of Oklahoma’s ranchers is heard on matters of state and national importance.
