Funeral services for Susan Elizabeth Hunter, of Dallas, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 22, 2024 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home. Susan passed away Aug. 16, 2024, at the age of 72.

Susan Elizabeth (Hamill) Hunter was born on May 30, 1952 in Texarkana, Texas, the daughter of Jess N. Hamill and Modell (Kizer) Hamill. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jesse Fondy.

Susan was a graduate of Hugo High School, Class of 1970. She attended Southeastern State University in Durant, Okla., and worked in the aviation department as a secretary. Susan married her beloved husband, Howard Hunter on Aug. 2, 1971 in Hugo. They moved to Dallas, Texas, where she worked for Don Shuheart Company before beginning her career at Fuses Unlimited. Susan retired from Fuses after 38 years and was praised for her excellent work ethic. They often stated they wished they had 100 more employees like her.

Susan enjoyed going to the library, checking out numerous books and audio tapes. She also enjoyed sewing, camping, fishing and hiking trails. Susan enjoyed visiting family members and loved her family dearly. Her passion in life was their son, Scottie –– taking him to ballgames and just enjoying being his mom. Susan loved the Lord above all things and was a member of Lockwood Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas. Susan is survived by her husband of 53 years, Howard Hunter of the home; son, Scott Howard Hunter of Garland, Texas; brother, Mark Hamill of Hugo; sisters: Frances Harrison of Hugo, Goldie Caldwell of Gatesville, Texas, and Marion Nix of McAllen, Texas, along with a host of family, friends and loved ones.

Interment will follow the service at Springs Chapel Cemetery with Floyd Mitchell officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
