David Quillen
Feb. 17, 1956 – Aug. 21, 2025 If you ever had the privilege of knowing David Quillen, you probably laughed –– most often at a joke he made at his own expense. David had a rare gift for humor, a quick wit, and a way of making people feel at ease. He could turn the ordinary into something worth remembering, and his self-deprecating humor left everyone around him smiling.
David was born in Talihina, Okla., on Feb. 17, 1956 to Joseph and Betty Quillen. He grew up in Soper, where he graduated high school and played varsity basketball. Though an athlete, David’s true standout talent was his artistry –– he could create, build, and design with a natural gift that amazed others. He briefly attended college at The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha to study art before pursuing a lifelong career in carpentry. First working with Winslow & Associates, he later built his own successful business, leaving behind not only sturdy homes but also a legacy of craftsmanship and creativity.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Betty Quillen; his siblings: Mary and Travis; and his grandparents: Annie and “Papa” Quillen.
He is survived by his children: Angelina Hampton and husband, Adam, Patricia Martin and husband, Brett, and Stefanie Quillen; his grandchildren: Ford, Scout, Brecken, Jax, Zane and Lincoln; his sister, Corlis Quillen; and a large, loving extended family of nieces, nephews and friends who adored him.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025 at The Hugo Chapel, 623 S. Broadway, followed by burial at Speer Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Rogan Funeral Home and OK Cremation.
