Alice Marie Oliver

Alice Marie Oliver, lovingly known as “Gee Gee,” went to her heavenly home at the age of 86, passing on from this life on Sept. 15, 2026 in Hugo, Okla. She was born on July 30, 1940 in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Richard John Burley and Susan Ann (Shipman) Burley. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Troy E. Oliver; and a grandson.

Gee Gee grew up in Missouri but later moved to the McCurtain County, Okla., area in 1963. She married her beloved husband, Troy, in 1967 at the Choctaw County Courthouse. Together, they made their home in Valliant. Gee Gee worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, all which involved caring for others in both practical and meaningful ways. She worked as a cook for many different dinners and cafes, where her food helped bring people together around the table. Her work was more than a task to her, because she understood the value of a shared meal and the comfort that comes from being nourished with care. She also served as a caregiver, offering patience, compassion, and support to those who depended on her.

Gee Gee’s faith was also a cornerstone of her life. She was a member of the Valliant Church of God. Through her church family, she found fellowship, worship, and a place to share in the joy of serving the Lord. Above all else, Gee Gee was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren, and they were among the greatest joys of her life. She loved them dearly and took great pride in being part of their lives. Gee Gee’s life was a testament to service, family, and faith. Gee Gee is survived by her loving family; sons: Thomas Leslie Oliver of Elijay, Ga., and Troy William Oliver of Valliant; daughters: Lisa Ann Oliver Gonzalas of Mesa, Ariz., and Susan Marie Oliver of Fort Towson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Services were under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
