Blanche Townes passed away on Sept. 19, 2020, in the comfort of her home in Powderly, Texas, at the age of 81. Blanche was born to Floyd and Retha Smith on Aug. 11, 1939 in Soper, Okla.

In her younger years Blanche enjoyed hunting quail, turkeys and deer. She loved reading old western books and watching Gunsmoke and Mountain Men. Blanche was a member of Blossom Queen Bees along with serving as the main Queen Bee, and she was the Red Hat Lady for more than 15 years. One of her favorite jobs was working for the school cafeteria in New Mexico. She also enjoyed watching many sports, her favorite teams were Dallas Stars, Oklahoma University Football, Texas Rangers, and the Houston Astros. She had two puppies that she adored, named Eppy and Bubbles. Blanche also loved to argue with BJ Kisinger everyday that she was hard-headed and set in her ways. Blanche is survived by her half-brothers:

Visitation for Blanche Townes will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020 at Prater-Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo, Okla.

Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 at Prater-Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home with Lance Williams officiating. Following will be an internment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo.
