Charles Birdwell Beard, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, completed his journey on earth and went home to God at 9:55 a.m. Christmas Eve from complications related to COVID-19. “Chuck” was born on Jan. 8, 1954 in Paris, Texas, to Charles B. “Charlie” and Elizabeth “Bess” T. Beard of Frogville, Okla. He lived his early years in Choctaw County, graduating from Hugo High School in 1971 as Valedictorian. Chuck was well known for his love of family, intelligence, wit and musical ability, but mostly for his love of Christ. For more than 40 years he was a devout and devoted member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Dallas. Then according to his wishes, Chuck’s Christian faith culminated when he was confirmed and received into the Catholic Church just five days before his death.

Chuck is survived by his sister, Betsy Goodnight of Caldwell, Texas; his brother, Biff and his wife, Ginger of Spring, Texas; nieces: Sarah Witt-Bird of Kansas, Okla., Martha Perkins of Long Beach, Calif., Kathy McGirt of Denver, Colo., and Julia Dowler of Decatur, Texas; his nephews: the Rev. Deacon Charles D. Beard of Tulsa, Okla., Benjamin T. Beard, Jr. of Spring, Texas, and Richard Burden of Washington, D.C. It goes without saying that he is also survived by a multitude of friends too numerous to list. Chuck was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.

Services are under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
