Dorothy Lorene (Abney) Ellis-Hitchcock

Dorothy Lorene (Abney) Ellis-Hitchcock, peacefully fell asleep in death on April 3, 2026, in Sherman, Texas, at the age of 101. Dorothy was born on Nov. 1, 1924 in Gay, Okla., to Dewitt Talmadge “D.W.” Abney and Lela Mae (Barnes) Abney. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Douglas “Pete” Ellis; second husband, Lawrence Hitchcock; son, Jess Ellis; daughter, Helene Bradford; brothers: Leroy and J.C. Abney; and sisters: Evalena Benton, Velma Sangster and Floria Jean Abney.

Dorothy’s memory will be remembered by her loving family who survives: sons: Eddie Ellis, David Ellis, James Ellis, Jim Ellis and Roy Ellis; daughters: Rubette Champaine, Betty Jo Fossler, Kelly Clark and Rita Sarafin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with a host of other family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
