Gwenda Lynn English
Gwenda Lynn English, age 77, passed away on Aug. 2, 2025 in Paris, Texas. She was born on Feb. 23, 1948 in the Chicota community of Paris, Texas, to Thomas Edward Davidson and Lucille Maxine Lewellen.
Gwenda lived most of her younger years working as a respiratory therapist for Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Mo., then later relocating to work at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. She also spent time as a traveling respiratory therapist. She later received her degree in jewelry making.
Gwenda raised her three children mostly as a single parent, with marriages in between, which blessed her with several wonderful step-children along the way.
She was an avid artisan, creating unique art pieces, which she would display in her home. Occasionally, she would gift a piece to a special someone. Let’s not forget her love of horses and all things western.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Laura Sue Todd; her brother, Audie Michael Davidson; and her loving husband of many years, George English, of De Kalb, Texas, who passed away on Nov. 11, 2017.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law: Sherry and Terry Riott of Ozark, Mo.; daughter, Cindy Potts of Ozark, formerly of New Boston, Texas; son and daughter-inlaw: Gregory and Rita Potts of Paris, Texas; grandchildren: Kenneth Riott of Houston, Texas, Rachel Vaccarro of Irvine, Calif., and Zane Wolfe of Hooks, Texas; brothers: Johnny Davidson and family of Grant, Okla., and Terrell Davidson and family of Fort Towson, Okla.
As we all enjoy our morning coffee, say a little prayer. It was always a pleasure to share a cup with her. She is off riding Arabian horses now and having a ball looking down at us from Heaven.
Graveside services were held Friday, Aug. 8, 2025 at Grant Cemetery in Grant, Okla., under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home.
