Hazel Dalene (Mitchell) Gipson

Funeral services for Hazel Dalene (Mitchell) Gipson, of Rufe, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2024 at Rufe Baptist Church. Hazel passed away Oct. 8, 2024, at the age of 82.

Hazel Dalene Mitchell Gipson was born on March 8, 1942 in Plainview, Okla., to Daniel Kellum Mitchell and Altie Ethel Stamps Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents: DK and Efa Mitchell and Isaac and Oma Stamps; husband, Bobby George Gipson; son, Robert Eugene Gipson; four baby siblings; sister, Mary Ellen Knight on Sept. 30, 2024; sisters-in-law: Betty Gipson and Carolyn McClure; brothers-in-law: Bud Gipson and Michael Elliott.

Hazel was a lifelong member of Rufe, Okla. She was a member of the Rufe Baptist Church and had a strong faith in the Lord. Hazel was a hard worker from a very young age. She worked as a home heath provider and was an employee of Lane Poultry Company for many years. Hazel loved being a wife and was a wonderful mother to Robert and Paul. She could often be seen out at community events with her son, Paul and she always had a smile on her face. Hazel will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her. Hazel is survived by her son, Paul Gipson of Rufe; grandchildren: Ashley Gipson and Joshua Gipson; brother, Melvin Mitchell and wife, Wanda; sister, Laverne Elliott; sister-in-law, Dixie Tollett Mussett; brotherin- law, Mikey McClure; special niece, Sharon Marie Gifford; along with lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Interment followed the service at Rufe Cemetery, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
