Homer “Bud” Dean Davis
Funeral services for Homer “Bud” Dean Davis, of Hugo, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. Sept. 13, 2024 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Homer passed away Sept. 9, 2024, at the age of 87.
Homer “Bud” Dean Davis was born on March 6, 1937 in Chandler, Ariz., the son of Cecil Thurman Davis and Edith Lilly (Maynard) Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, and sister, Jerelene Booth.
Bud was a resident of Hugo, and was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army. He served our country from 1960 to 1966 as a truck/vehicle mechanic and was an Expert Gunner (rocket launcher) and Marksman (rifle). During his time in the Army, Bud was stationed in Germany and stayed in the same barracks that Elvis Presley had recently stayed in. After serving our country, Bud was proud to work as a lineman for many years and while working in Saudi Arabia, he used a crane to set up a tent for the prince. Bud was well traveled, from working overseas to vacationing in London, he loved to travel and see the world. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to the casino and antiquing. But most of all he loved his family and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Bud will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Homer is survived by his daughters: Rita Davis and husband of Hugo and Leslie Harwell and husband of Washington; son, Tim Chesney (Davis) and wife of Tennessee; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Davis and wife and sisters: Remonia Wyrick, Judy Vaughn and husband and Lajaun McDaniel and husband, along with a host of other family members and friends.
Bro. Bob Walling officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
