Funeral services for Jo Ann (Barnett) Cannon, of Fort Towson, Okla., were held Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel. Jo Ann passed away Aug. 12, 2025, at the age of 77.

Jo Ann Barnett Cannon was born on Sept. 27, 1947 in Plainview, Texas, the daughter of Wayne “Dub” Yowel Barnett and Mary Jo (Smith) Barnett. She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Sharon Jean Barnett.

Jo Ann was a graduate of Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas, Class of 1966. She married the love of her life, Gene Cannon on June 1, 1968 in Amarillo, Texas. Together, they built their life in Texas, living the majority of their life in Panhandle, Texas. Jo Ann and Gene moved to Fort Towson, Okla., in 2017 to be closer to their extended family.

Jo Ann was a gifted painter and enjoyed crafting, always making things for her friends and family. Jo Ann especially enjoyed cooking for her family, whom she adored. Above all else, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Her love for her family knew no bounds. Jo Ann is survived by her beloved husband of more than 57 years, Gene of the home; her mother, Mary Jo Barnett of Forsyth, Mo.; son, Quentin Cannon and wife of Elephant Butte, N.M.; daughter, Aimee Davis of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; sister, Marilyn Atchley and husband of Forsyth, Mo., along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at Fort Towson Cemetery, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
