Funeral services for Joyce Mantooth will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel.

Joyce Aleen Mantooth was born Oct. 20, 1925 in Kosoma, Okla., the daughter of Charlie Wayman and Bertie (Robertson) Wayman and had lived most of her life in Hugo. She passed from this life on Sept. 20, 2020, at the age of 94 under the care of her niece, Joyce (Wayman) Prunty and great-niece, Lori Chandler.

Joyce married Millard Mantooth on July 28, 1941 in Antlers, Okla. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her two sons: Bill Mantooth and Robert Mantooth and four brothers: Leo Wayman, Roy Wayman, Hester Wayman and Joe Wayman.

Joyce worked for many years at Wells Lamont Glove Factory in Hugo as a seamstress. She was a devout Christian and member of Heaven’s Harvest Church of God, Hugo. Joyce loved singing gospel music at local churches and traveled with the Victory Voice Singers. She also loved to go shopping but most of all, Joyce loved praising Jesus and being with her family.

Survivors include: grandchildren: Rhonda (Mantooth) Garrett of Dallas, Texas, Billy Mantooth of Wimberly, Texas, Debby Bailey of Hugo, Danette Gober of Throckmorton, Texas, Danny Vantrees of Hugo, Justin Mantooth of Grant, Okla., and Millard Mantooth of Grant; 14 great-grandchildren and five greatgreat-grandchildren; daughters-in-law: Donna Mantooth of Seguin, Texas, and Lois Mantooth of Grant, along with many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home, Hugo.

Interment will follow the service at Springs Chapel Cemetery in Hugo with Bro. Dempsey Greer officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
