Kevin Lee Farnsworth
Kevin Lee Farnsworth, known affectionately to friends and family as Farney, had the kind of infectious laugh that could fill a room with warmth and the kind of adventurous spirit that could fill a life with unforgettable stories. Born on the last day of 1990 in Paris, Texas, Kevin embraced the world with open arms until his untimely departure on Aug. 22, 2024 in Calera, Okla., following a car accident. He was a man whose courage and friendliness knew no bounds, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The family has scheduled Celebration of Life Services for Kevin at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024 at First Assembly of God Church in Hugo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024 at Prater- Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel.
Kevin’s journey was nothing short of extraordinary, right from the start. As a baby, he took his first flight to a NICU, setting the stage for a lifetime of soaring to new heights. After a memorable high school experience where he played the trumpet with gusto for the Hugo Buffalos Marching Band, Kevin briefly attended OSU before finding his true calling as a Table Games Supervisor at Casino Gaming for the Choctaw Nation. His 13+ years in the industry were marked by his signature blend of professionalism and playfulness that endeared him to colleagues and patrons alike.
Family was the cornerstone of Kevin’s life. He was the beloved son of Ricky and Nita Farnsworth of Soper, Okla.; the cherished boyfriend of Huang Zhenni of Melissa, Texas, and the protective brother to Amanda and her husband, Joshua Winters of Hugo. His nephew, Brandon Beall and nieces: Tayla Beall and Makaylia Winters will miss their funloving uncle, as will his uncle, Jerald Farnsworth of Ardmore, Okla., and aunts: Karen Weiss with husband, Mickey of Sherman, Texas, and Eva Nell Novak with husband, George of Soper. Kevin’s numerous cousins from various states are also feeling the loss of his larger-than-life presence.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents: Robert and Lavonn Farnsworth, Edgar “Ed” and Eva Mae Butler, and an aunt.
Kevin’s interests were as varied as his talents. He shared a love for baseball and Boy Scouts with his father, an experience that culminated in him earning the coveted Eagle Scout award. This achievement was a source of immense pride for both Kevin and his parents. Later, Kevin discovered the thrill of motorcycle riding, a passion that allowed him to feel the wind in his hair and the freedom of the open road. When he wasn’t riding, he could be found assembling Legos with the precision of an architect, fishing with the patience of a saint, or spending quality time with his beloved dog, Marshall. Describing Kevin is easy: adventurous, courageous, friendly. He was the guy who would always say yes to a challenge, offer a helping hand with a smile, and turn any mundane moment into a memorable adventure. He had a talent for making the best out of any situation, a trait that made him a joy to be around. In keeping with Kevin’s sense of humor, it feels appropriate to share a quote from the beloved comedian Robin Williams, who once said, “You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.” Kevin certainly never lost his spark; he ignited laughter and joy in the lives of those around him with his own brand of delightful madness.
Kevin’s story may have ended too soon, but the chapters he wrote in the lives of his family, friends and everyone he met are filled with laughter, courage and an array of escapades that will continue to inspire tales and chuckles for years to come. His legacy is one of joy, friendship, and the courage to embrace life’s journey, no matter where it leads. Kevin Lee Farnsworth, you will be missed, but oh, how you will be remembered.
