Opal LaVerne (Clark) Lane

Funeral services for Opal LaVerne (Clark) Lane, of Soper, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. March 14, 2025 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home. Opal passed away March 9, 2025, at the age of 65.

Opal LaVerne (Clark) Lane was born in Hugo, Okla., on July 21, 1959, the daughter of Walter Henson Clark and Virginia Dorothy (Meyer) Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Richard Clark, Argle Clark, Eugene Clark, Oliver Clark, Leonard Clark, Mark Clark, Riley Clark and Otis Clark; sisters: Nora Erwin, Linda Saffell, Sharon McClain, LaVern Hensley, June Clark, Mary Clark and Ester Rich.

Opal was a graduate of Hugo High School, Class of 1977 and was a lifelong resident of Choctaw County. Opal worked as a home health aide for many years and later as a headstart teacher.

She loved her chickens, turkeys, rabbits and cats and was heavily involved in the community. Opal was strong willed and wasn’t afraid to voice her opinion when necessary. She was her grandchildrens’ greatest advocate, and she devoted countless hours to helping them succeed in their endeavors. Opal was a member of Kent Baptist Church and loved the Lord. Her passing has left a void in the lives of her family and friends, but they will always carry her memory in their hearts. Opal is survived by her beloved husband, Bobby Lane of the home; son, Bobby Joe Lane, Jr. of Speer, Okla.; daughter, Shelly Lane of Speer; six grandchildren; brothers: Stanley Clark of Speer and John Clark of Honobia, Okla.; sister, Linna Bell of Antlers, Okla., along with a host of friends, family and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at the Clark Family Cemetery, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
