Phillip Eugene Wafford, resident of Pomaria, S.C., passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Newberry Health, in Newberry, S.C.

He was born on April 9, 1977 in Hugo, Okla., and grew up in Wright City, Okla. He was a son of Virginia Gash Wafford and the late Lonnie Wafford. He was a NCCCO Certified Crane operator for Keystone Constructors of Gaffney, S.C. Family was everything to him. Loving on his kids and playing with grandkids gave him the greatest pleasure in life. He was a great prankster with all whom he made contact. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, of which he was known to be a better fisherman than hunter.

As a last gesture of love to all, he was an organ donor where it was his hope to extend productive lives to as many as possible.

Phillip is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kelly Vanarsdall; his mother, Virginia Wafford; daughters: Jeana (Thomas) Ruff and Alaina Wafford; a nephew reared in the home, Jerry Noah; a sister, Carlon Hatcher; brothers: Matthew Wafford, Mark Wafford and his fiance, Jessica Raga, and Agnew Wafford; grandchildren: Brantley, Tinsley, Ellie, Lyndon, and Amelia; nephews: Waylon Wafford and Errol Hatcher; and a niece, Josie Wafford; his special cousin, Jena Jacobs, and her children: Randon, Rylie and Reese; numerous first, second and third cousins; and more friends and loved ones than can be counted. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025 at McSwain-Evan’s Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Stanley Simmons, Sr. The family will receive friends following the service. In addition, a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Golden Baptist Church at 100 Line St. Golden, Okla., with Pastor Joseph Carrol officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-3000.
