Ruby Anna Dillard
Graveside services for Ruby Anna Dillard, of Hugo, Okla., were held March 7, 2026 at Fort Towson Cemetery. Ruby passed away March 1, 2026, at the age of 94.
Ruby Anna (Garrett) Dillard was born Oct. 22, 1931, the daughter of Martin Frank Garrett and Crystal Audrey Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Dillard and daughter, Barbara Jean Scott.
Ruby attended elementary school at Harmon Community School in Woodward County, Okla., and attended Woodward High School in Woodward, and graduated from Fort Towson High School, Class of 1966. She graduated Central State University in Edmond, Okla., graduating Cum Laude, Class of 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Math/Science Education. Ruby went on to receive her Master of Education in Special Education from University of Oklahoma in Norman. She held numerous professional certifications to teach math, science, reading and special education. Ruby taught for more than 40 years in special education in Oklahoma, Nevada, and Texas, retiring from Valliant Elementary School. She was a member of Oklahoma Retired Educators Association and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Ruby enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, puzzles and gardening.
Ruby is survived by her son, Robert Bauer of Fort Towson; daughter, Marta Sue Harris of Bartlesville, Okla.; her grandchildren, numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren and sister, Marta Vaughn Mahlke of Corpus Cristi, Texas, along with a host of family, friends and loved ones.
President Jim Rogers officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
