Samuel Richards, Sr.

Funeral services for Samuel Richards, Sr., of Hugo, Okla., were held April 14, 2025 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home. Samuel passed away April 8, 2025, at the age of 62.

Samuel “Sammy” Grady Richards, Sr. was born on March 9, 1963 in Hugo, Okla., the son of Charles William Richards and Patricia Ann (Holton) Richards. He was preceded in death by his parents and sons: William Jack Richards and Samuel Grady Richards, Jr.

Sammy lived in Hugo his entire life and grew up with a deep appreciation for the land and the honest, fulfilling work of a rancher. His love for ranching was more than a career, it was a testament to his connection with nature. Sammy loved to be outdoors and was happiest when he was outside, and he never missed an opportunity to stay busy. Sammy was a devoted husband, loving father and adoring grandfather. His greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren. Sammy is survived by his wife, Nellie Richards of the home; son, Matthew Richards and wife of Hugo; three grandchildren; brother, Donald Richards of Oregon and sister, Dena Sutherland and husband of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, along with a host of other family members, friends and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at Springs Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Doug McClure officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
