Wanda Louise Lewis
Wanda Louise (Anderson) Lewis, of Hugo, Okla., went to her heavenly home on June 28, 2025, passing peacefully at her home in Hugo, Okla., surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 71.
Wanda was born on March 29, 1954 in Martinez, Calif., the daughter of Richard Anderson and Ruthie Mae (Alexander) Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Eugene Lewis; son, Kevin Slauter; brother, Ricky Dwight Anderson; sister, Jo Ann Marie Anderson-Asnby and grandparents.
Wanda grew up in the Oklahoma City area and moved to Choctaw County in 1967. She had two marriages and four children before settling down with the love of her life, Paul Lewis. They married in Paris, Texas, in 1989. They made their home in Sawyer and later in Hugo until his passing in 2011.
Wanda enjoyed many different hobbies throughout the years such as reading, crocheting, knitting, and going to auctions and flea markets. Wanda also worked many years as a Registered Nurse, working in many different hospitals and in home health. She carried that compassion of caring for others into her own home as a loving wife, mother, nana, sister and aunt. Wanda truly was the rock of her family, providing a foundation of love and stability. Her family was the greatest joy in her life and even though her passing has left a void in their lives; her love and memory will live on forever in their hearts.
Wanda is survived by her loving family; in the home, daughter, Diane Slauter and grandchildren: Charity, Aubrey and Emery; son and daughter-in-law: James and Candy Covington; as well as grandchildren: Brian Bowers, Andrew Bowers, Courtney and Allison Barnes, Mason Slauter, Paula Lewis and J.P. Lewis; children: John Lewis, Amy Lewis-Fletcher and Tracy Garrer; sisters: Ruthie Elaine Anderson, Sharon Bowman and husband, Ray, Candy Wimberly and husband, David, Bessie Laverne Lemmond Carroll and husband, Allen, Elizabeth Ann Lemmond Stamper and husband, Brian; brothers: Jerry Richard Anderson and wife, Terrie, Joe Edward Anderson and wife, Lupé, James Clarence “Rusty” Lemmond and wife, Michelle; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of other family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
