Oklahoma, which declared that the Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s Oklahoma reservation was never formally disestablished for purposes of federal major-crimes law, has now led to a state court case that will determine if all American Indians in the affected areas are now exempt from paying Oklahoma state income tax.

Washington , D.C. – U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) introduced the Tribal Police Department Parity Act to eliminate burdensome regulation and streamline Tribal police department access to duty weapons. Under current law, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) places an undue burden on Indian Tribes while exempting state and local entities from the same bureaucracy. U.S. Congressman Dusty Johnson (R-SD) introduced companion legislation in the House, ahead of National Police Week.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Attorney General Gentner Drummond commended Gov. Stitt for signing legislation that will help law enforcement crack down on Oklahoma’s rash of illegal marijuana grow operations. Authored by Rep. Jon Echols and Sen. Lonnie Paxton, House Bill 2095 gives the Office of the Attorney General, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control, and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation full enforcement authority over the state’s medical marijuana laws.
