Avian influenza detected in Oklahoma dairy herd

The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has confirmed a case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in an Oklahoma dairy herd. The positive sample was collected by the dairy in April and recently submitted to USDA APHIS for testing.

Each year, Choctaw Nation gives Chahtapreneur Awards to a Choctaw business in each of the reservation’s 12 districts, as well as crowning one business Chahtapreneur of the Year.

Drinkard accepts HHS principal position

Hugo School board of education has begun the search for a new superintendent. After adjourning into executive session during Monday’s meeting, the board discussed the superintendent search and the interview process, which will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 11 with approximately 12 applicants. The board announced after the meeting closed Monday that Sammy Drinkard, who was currently the dean of students at the high school, was asked to transfer positions and has accepted to role of high school principal.

HUGO –– Twelve Practical Nursing students graduated from Kiamichi Tech Hugo on Thursday, June 27. According to the program director, Shelly Swalley, Practical Nursing graduates complete 1,508 hours of class time and clinical hours.
