OKLAHOMA CITY –– The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence has announced the recipients of its prestigious 2021 Academic All-State Awards. These 100 top public high school seniors, selected from 379 nominations statewide, hail from 77 schools in 69 Oklahoma school districts.

HUGO –– Hugo city council members met in regular session last week, and conducted a public hearing concerning the 2021-2022 budget. Action wasn’t needed regarding the budget.

The PRCA Rodeo Committee announces that the 59th annual Hugo Rodeo Parade will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 4. All area businesses, churches, homecoming classes, clubs and youth groups and individuals are urged to make plans to enter the parade to compete for cash prize money.

• Boone Andrews is the 4-year-old son of Megan and Patrick Andrews of Fort Towson, Okla. His hobbies and favorite sports include ranch rodeo, playing in the mud with cars, going to work cows, mopping the floor and cleaning. Boone participates in the Oklahoma Youth Ranch Rodeo Association.

Parking problem solved –– There will be plenty of parking space at the Hugo rodeo in June with the addition of 13 acres just north of the arena leased free to the Rodeo and Horse Club by George Shelton and Bailey Baker.
